Catholic Charities’ Work Furthered by Steele & Freeman’s Completion of New Facilities

Fort Worth, Texas, April 2, 2010:  Steele & Freeman, Construction Manager for client Catholic Charities, has completed construction on new facilities for Catholic Charities.  The new complex, named the Fischer Family Campus, is located in the Seminary Street neighborhood of Fort Worth.  Steele & Freeman is proud to support Catholic Charities’ mission “To provide service to people in need, to advocate for justice in social structures, and to call the entire church and other people of good will to do the same”, through the construction of the new campus.  The project comprises three buildings and associated site work, and was completed on schedule and within Catholic Charities’ budget.  Catholic Charities provides services throughout the course of a year for one in five residents of Tarrant County.  The new complex allows Catholic Charities to add new services for people in need and to make all services available in one centralized, highly accessible location.

The new buildings, with a combined total space of 83,563 square feet, were designed and built to provide comprehensive foster care services in the Assessment Center and a wide variety of client services in the Nenetta Burton Carter Building.  A third building provides storage.  A few of the many services provided for families and adults are financial education, advocacy and attorney services, refugee services and placement, English as a second language classes, and job placement services.  Steele & Freeman worked on this project in conjunction with the services of architecture firm Hahnfeld Hoffer and Stanford.

According to the Catholic Charities construction committee, Steele & Freeman was selected as Construction Manager at Risk based on local presence, the project superintendent, and on references from previous clients.

“We are privileged to support Catholic Charities, and in turn, the larger community, with the completion of this project.  Our Steele & Freeman team is focused on taking care of Catholic Charities’ needs throughout a long-term relationship,” stated Mike Freeman, President of Steele & Freeman.

Catholic Charities will have a Grand Opening ceremony on Friday, April 9, 2010 to which the public is invited.

Schedule: 10 a.m. Ribbon Cutting and Blessing by Bishop Kevin Vann; with a 12 p.m. musical performance by The Spirit.  Docent tours will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
